Mahatma Junior College of Education, Chembur

Established in 1986, Mahatma Junior College of Education is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The college provides D.Ed. course both in English and Marathi mediums and has emerged as one of the best in the state of Maharashtra. Situated in the heart of the Mumbai suburb of Chembur, it has a well-equipped computer centre, the latest teaching aids, a well-stocked library, and up-to-date laboratory.

   Mission

To help student-teachers develop the ability to logically and psychologically arrange subjects, and master different methods of teaching. We also aim to help them develop democratic, moral and social values, and promote all round development. A lot of emphasis is given to value -based education and development of various competencies.

  Objectives

• To help the student-teachers to understand the role of education in changing the Indian society, which has a great tradition behind and yet is changing continuously.

• To help them to understand their students with the help of concepts principles and theories in various faculties of knowledge .

• To motivate students-teachers to acquaint themselves with the structures of school subjects and see their relation with standard-wise objectives, syllabus and methodology.

• To make available opportunities of assessing and making decisions about learning experiences as a part lesson –preparation.

• To provide opportunities for rationalizing the section or production of tools of evaluation and decisions about remedial teaching.
