Courses |
| PICA is affiliated to the University
of Mumbai. It offers a five year Bachelor of Architecture
(B.Arch.) degree course and two years Master of
Architecture (M.Arch.) in Urban Design course, approved
by Council of Architecture.
The first year B.Arch. course focuses
on the development of various skills and the language
of expression required by students of Architecture;
from the second year to the fourth year B.Arch.
students tackle subjects such as Architecture design,
technical subjects that support the design assignments
and subjects like History of Architecture and Humanities.
B.Arch. students are expected to
complete a Design Dissertation and Thesis along
with electives and supporting technical subjects
in the fifth year. In the second year half of the
year students undergo professional training for
16 weeks in offices where architects are employed.
Over the five years students also attend seminars,
workshops, guest lectures by eminent architects
and professionals and go on study tours and also
visits. |

Examination Scheme |
| Examination schedules
are based on the annual pattern of conducting theory
examinations. The college as per University directives
conducts the first and second year examinations.
At the end of the third, fourth and first half of
the fifth year B.Arch, University of Mumbai conducts
Theory Examination and conducts juries for Architectural
Design and Technical subjects. At the end of the
final year B.Arch after successful completion of
15 weeks of practical training in the field, University
conducts Viva-voce of the trainees
NATA (National Aptitude Test in
Architecture), is conducted by the Council of Architecture
under NIASA (National Institute of Advance Studies
in Architecture, Pune) through the architectural
college all over India. PiCA is one of the test
centers approved by NIASA & COA. Details of

Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GOI.

Pillai’s College of Architecture organized
a two days course on “EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION” in February 2010.
This short course was conducted under National
Programme for Capacity Building of Architects
in Earthquake Risk Management (NPCBAERM) and
sponsored by Government of Maharashtra under
National Institute of Disaster Management,
Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi.
